Well here we are again. A new month starts tomorrow.
Can you feel it?
Fall is in the air and pumpkin spice has taken over. If you are biz minded… you know we are entering the fourth quarter. You know… that final push until the end of the year.
A perfect time to evaluate where you are at in life and business.
Are you where you want to be?
Well, why the fuck not? LOL! You should be. You deserve it!
Ok, so you are not where you thought you’d be.
No problem! Fix it!
Ok, ok, ok… I know what you are thinking… much easier said than done, right? And you are thinking about the HOW?
All problems have solutions, remember? Let me break it down for you…
First —> carve out some “me time.” Find a quiet place, put your favorite music on and write. Write and write and write. Write about your year so far. Reflect on what goals you had set for yourself. Readjust them if you need to, congratulate yourself if you’ve reached a few of them. Don’t edit as you go. Just free form let the thoughts and words pour out of you. Who cares if things aren’t spelled correctly?
Second —> From your writing, pick out what your top 2 goals are. Glitter and Sharpie’s are my thing…but you do you. Write about what lights your soul on fire. Be specific!! The more details the better. Make a huge fucking sign and hang it in your room. Look at that fucker every single day!!! It will remind you of why you are doing what your are doing. On the hardest days… it will remind you and push you forward.
Third —> Give yourself permission to reach those goals. Seriously… whatever the negative self talk is that you are telling yourself… just knock it the hell off. You got this. Wanting to lose 20 pounds? You can. Wanting to reach six figures in your biz? You can. Wanting to learn how to make the best cheesecake your kids have ever tasted? You can. Rise the FUCK up. There are ZERO reasons you can’t do the things you want. A little tip though… make sure it is your goal and not someone else’s. Working towards someone else’s goals has a way of backfiring but that is a post in itself.
Fourth —> read a book. Not just any book though. Pick a book that will help you work on your mindset. A book that will really give you the kick in the ass you need. I am happy to give recommendations. There are so many excellent books out there.
Ok…. I know what you are thinking… Mindset? What the fuck is that, right?
Let me press pause here and rewind a little.
I have been in your shoes…knowing I was destined for greatness! Having dreams and goals bigger than I thought I was allowed to have. Does that sound cheesy? Maybe just a little cheesy but true nonetheless.
It was roughly a year ago that I would lie awake at night, not being able to sleep because I knew there was more out there for me and my family. There was more than living paycheck to paycheck. I just knew it in my bones.
But what could I do about it? Little old me? Big fat nothing was the mantra that played over and over in my mind. And you know what? That is exactly what was happening…big, fat nothing!
See, our minds are a funny thing. Ever thought about how you talk to yourself?
Do you say positive or negative things about yourself? Your answer here has a direct correlation with your circumstances.
It took a long, long while for me to understand that and how negative my mindset really was. No one was going to hand me anything. I had to make things happen. I had to figure things out. We have a saying in our house…“Are you a Can-o or Can’t-o.” A little play on our last name…lol.
Well…I am definitely a Can-o.
Jump to the present (many mindset books, tears, chocolate and a great mentor later) and the greatness that I knew was within reach…is now in my hands.
I started my own business! Me! Crazy, right? And with each new client it feels surreal that someone is willing to pay for my skills.
And I don’t share this to brag. I share it in hopes to inspire. I hope you feel inspired to take action.
Just know… you can do this. Whatever “this” is… you got it! I would love to hear what your goals are for these last 90 days or so. Leave a comment. We all go through the same struggles and sometimes it is nice to just know we are not alone.
Until next time… Don’t let the sharks win.
